Kathleen Boyd-Fenger, Ph.D.

Head of School

Once a troubled Logos student herself, Kathy Boyd Fenger is now the school’s top administrator. She is a daily reminder for Logos students that there is no limit to what they can achieve.

Kathy’s family life was unstable and she had to take on responsibilities at a very early age, which brought her to Logos. She had to fight off depression that would have overwhelmed her if she let it. When she was in eighth grade her mother was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder and broke down. Kathy eventually moved in with her best friend’s parents. Despite all of these burdens, Kathy swiftly emerged as a model student.

After graduating from Logos, Kathy went on to Webster University, earning a B.A. in Psychology, an M.A. in Counseling, and a lifetime teaching certificate in Special Education. Her skills are constantly honed as she brings order to chaos for more than 100 middle and high school students with learning, emotional, and/or behavioral disabilities.

Kathy has directed both the academic and therapeutic components of Logos, the Midwest’s only school of its kind. She has held the Logos School positions of Adolescent Therapist, Special Education Coordinator, English Department Head, Executive Vice President, and is now the Head of School.

Kathy has also contributed her expertise outside of Logos, making numerous presentations for the Learning Disability Association-St. Louis Affiliate.  These presentations have included topics such as individualized instruction, parenting teens, positive behavior management, and social skills training for LD and ADD students.

For over five years, Kathy was a featured guest of Jennifer Blome’s monthly “Your Mental Health” segment of the Noon News on KSDK Channel 5. Topics discussed include dealing with teen depression, Asperger’s Syndrome, bipolar disorder, conduct disorder, ADHD, and anger management.

In addition, Kathy has been featured in a number of radio interviews discussing topics such as back to school stress, holiday stressors, individualized learning styles and instruction, and anxiety disorders.

In the summer of 2012, Kathy obtained her Ph.D. in Education Leadership and Administration from the University of Missouri, St. Louis.

In more ways than one, Logos has shaped a large part of Kathy’s life. Logos gave her what she needed to succeed and she continues to give hope to students who are also at-risk of educational failure.
